How Your Water Meter Is Read
For customers whose meters are located on the outside or inside of the home, the meter reader will visit the site monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly depending on the billing schedule for a particular area. If the meter reader is unable to access the meter inside a home, the customer may call in the reading to customer service, or they have the option of going to our website and entering their meter reading through the Billing or Service Questions link.
Meter readers are trained to make every effort to read meters according to the billing schedule. Readings are estimated when we are unable to obtain readings due to extremes in weather or we are unable to access our meters.
Readings are manually entered into electronic meter reading devices. The information from the device is then uploaded into the billing system and posted to the customer’s account. Our billing system then generates a bill with rate schedules on file.
